March Minutes

Call to Order:

The March 21, 2024 meeting of the Mainville Sportsmen’s Club began at 7:00 p.m. with a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance.  Forty two members and guests were present.  

Approval of Meeting Minutes:

Secretary Lingousky read the minutes of the February 15, 2024 meeting.  A motion was made by Brad Berlin and seconded by Mike Romig to approve the minutes as read. The motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report:

Treasurer Felegie presented the treasurer’s report for March. A motion to approve the report as presented was made by Donna Romig, seconded by Gerry von Blohn. The motion carried.

President’s Report:

President Jaskiewicz reported that the well water for the clubhouse has been tested and no lead was present.

Committee Reports:  

  • Steel reported 17 shooters
  • Steel Challenge reported 23 shooters
  • Practical Pistol reported 12 shooters.
  • Grounds committee thanked the more than 20 people who came to clean up day and accomplished all the tasks set before them.
  • Kitchen committee reported that the right-side oven won’t light. Also, since it is a commercial stove and intended for continuous use, the lighting procedure is not obvious.  Mel Bardo requested that the clubhouse rental agreement be updated to add a section asking if the renter needs to use the oven, Secretary Lingousky agreed to do so.  Mel also requested volunteers who would come in a day ahead of time and light the stove for renters who need to use the oven.  Paul Shadowcat and Bill Romig volunteered to be part of this new stove committee.

Old Business:  

The floor was opened to nominations for the offices of Vice President and Secretary.  Gerry Von Blohn had been nominated for VP at the February meeting. No additional nominations were made. With no other nominations forthcoming, nominations for VP were closed.  The floor was opened to nominations for Secretary.  Joyce Lingousky had been nominated for Secretary at the February meeting. No additional nominations were made. With no other nominations forthcoming, nominations for Secretary were closed.  President Jaskiewicz therefore cast a single vote for each candidate. Gerry Von Blohn takes over as VP on April 1, 2024 and Joyce Lingousky continues as Secretary.

New Business:

President Jaskiewicz reported that he has ordered a new flag for the flagpole.

Secretary Lingousky explained that a new liability waiver form will soon be introduced as this is now required by the Club’s insurance company. 

Good and Welfare of the Club:

Gerry Von Blohn volunteered to do dinner for the April meeting.  

Gerry Von Blohn reminded everyone that the Friends of the NRA dinner will be April 12, 2024 at the Espy fire hall. Tickets are $50.  All proceeds come back to NEPA to support youth and women’s sporting programs. There will be door prizes and a new all-you-can–eat menu. There will be more than 26 guns raffled off. Tickets available from Gerry.

There being no further business to discuss, on a motion to adjourn by Donna Romig, seconded by Billy 

Romig, the meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
